Well I dont need any help but my girlfriend does a little

She started playing a (female )Tauren hunter bout a year ago wich joined the guild today. she is now lvl 76, and she will hopefully ding lvl 80 in a few weeks so i can start helping her getting geared in heroics for some future Naxx runs.
Now the problem is I dont have much experience playing a hunter and cant really explain too her how too play one,

So my questions are:

Whats a easy understandeble but good PvE Spec too dps with at lvl 80 for her in heroics/raids?

Whats the hunters hit cap at lvl 80?

What spell rotation should she use?

What kinda pet? ( I know there are 4 different types)

What stats should she aim for after her hit rating is maxed?

Hope u guys can help us;)

P.S If u are ever in a group with her, remeber its her first Wow character she doesnt have any raid xp and not much dungeon xp yet, So explain things too her if needed and dont start yelling: WTF 1k dps!?! WTF, AArrghh dont kill that mob yet!?! MD MD MD aargh dead!! etc etc

i think survival is a good pve specc, but i havent tried MM since Wotlk is out. i raided tbc in MM and did good dps but dont know whats its like now.

My rotation is not(this is on the site Moregore posted)
1. Kill Shot
2. Explosive Shot
3. Black Arrow
4. Aimed/Multi-Shot
5. Serpent Sting
6. Steady Shot

But

Black arrow
Serpent sting
Explosive shot
Steadyshot(3x)
Aimed?multi-shot

And just repeat this only not the serpent sting and black arrow i use them when the cd is done or when there off the mob.

I always keep serpent sting up because i got a glyph that increases my damage when its up.

Dont know the hitcap iam far from hitcapped atm so dont look .

I use a cat pet but for pve i think any dps pet is ok, check this site for pets and their specialties http://www.wow-petopia.com/ .

I would say agility is the stat she should go for it gives Attack power an crit. so thats more damage for you and your pet.

Thats because what elitist jerks are saying is that there is no rotation as such just a list of prioritys to maximise dps. The list they give for priority will maximise the dps of your hunter as a survival spec as thats what the guide is designed for and survival is still the highest dpsing spec.

However its not a strict thing and is still something you need to do in your own 'playstyle', but by following the correct 'priority' you will maximise your dps output.

hunters hitcap is 266 but you reach it very fast . because all the loot has almost hit rating on it nowadays. even food can give you that hit buff at the end. Most difficult problem i see is reaching the 1.5 sec autoshot with haste rating this must be approx 512 or something like that. most hunters are now survival/mm but im serious thinking of respeccing to Bm . (3 % more raid damage)
think in patch 3.3 they will give bm more benefits ( like the misdirection on 4 sec cd now) shes 76 so she knows what she likes i pressume .

My rotation is: Spam, Spam with a little spam between the spamshots and some spam if the spam arrow is on cooldown and if that isnt the case spam the spammy shot untill Killspam is ready. Just spam everything that isnt on cooldown on the boss and you are a true huntard like me
No my usual rotation is: Hunter's mark, Killshot (if boss is down 20%), Explosive shot, Black arrow/Serpent sting, Aimed/Multi shot, Explosive shot and spam Steady shot untill Explosive shot/Aimed shot/Black arrow is up again or Serpent sting is running out.


PS: Cobray, go to User Control Panel > Profile > Edit signature and place your signature there

On my hunter I've specced Survival with a bit of Marksmanship in it [Aimed Shot and 3% hit] so my hit cap is what Cobray said - 226.

For the rotation I normally start with Hunter's Mark, Aimed Shot [because damage is increased with that on it] followed by Explosive Shot then I put Black Arrow on it and Serpent Sting then I spam Steady Shot until everything is off CD or needs refreshing. Kill Shot when it's ready and keep hitting it when it's off CD.

As for a pet, I think the best is a dog for the added buff it gives [Ferocious Howl] which increases your attack power by a significant amount, but if there's another hunter there with a dog have a cat on reserve [I believe they don't stack and it seems a waste unless you can co-ordinate when to use howl with the other hunter]. Also I'm naughty and my pet never has growl or cower turned on - I find it wastes focus when it could be used to attack with, plus the threat it generates is low with both turned off so no need to worry about aggro ;]
